The Battleground[edit]
Start by offering up the guiding light to the candlestick at the entrance to remove all the purple gas. Check both ends of the path for sparkly spots before heading down. You'll get a Dracolyte on one side by the way. You're now on B1. Make your way around the path to the right until you find the hole you can drop down to reach B4.
There's a treasure chest at the dead end just above where you started. Defeat the Pandora's Box to receive a Seed of Skill. Turn back a bit and there should be a blue crystal on the wall you can harvest from. Push west towards the campsite or you can climb back up to B3 and collect a few sparkly spots. There's not much else up there though. Rest, save and check the corner further west for a Molten Globule before using the rope to go all the way down to B8.
There's only one way to go on this level so shimmy across the ledge and continue to B9. Follow the path here until you spot the blue crystal, then take a right after you've harvested the items from it. Waiting at the dead end is a treasure chest with a recipe book Sacred Styles for Saintly Ladies.
Pushing south, you'll find a puff-puff girl on the path. Speak to her and follow her to receive a rather intense puff-puff session. Head to the center of the area and look under the incline to find a treasure chest with an Agate of Evolution. Go on up to the main section of B8.
Here, head for the dead end to the east to find some Molten Globules, then go the other way to another dead end to the southwest. On the way you'll find a blue crystal where you can harvest some Densinium and waiting at the end is a chest with a Brain Drainer shield. Return to the middle once again and move up a floor to B7.
Check the north dead end for a Dracolyte before going and circling around to the west. Along the way, you can pick up Gold Nuglets from the sparkly spots, until you spot the small alcove at the far left. There's a treasure chest here with a Bad Axe inside. Onward to B6.
Head west until you find a mountable Dragooner that you can defeat and have a ride on. Fly over to the lone platform on the left and open the chest for the recipe book Brace Yourself. Continue up to the Overlooked Cavern where the Orichalcum is hidden.
The Forging Hammer[edit]
Make a quick stop in Gallopolis and speak to the sultan. He will readily give you the hammer (which he apparently had planned to sell) and you can move along on to find the special forge.
The Crucible[edit]
This area is located deep within Mount Huji, beyond the door marked as Entry Forbidden on the map. Speak to Miko's maid in Hotto to get the key to unlock the door into The Crucible. Offer the Guiding Light to the volcano and the forge will appear.
Examine it to start making the Sword of Light. With the weapon in hand, you should be able to destroy the barrier blocking access to the Fortress of Fear, where Mordegon awaits.

so I accidentally did that..I tried to kill him the first time and apparently because I had it equipped, I couldn't use it as an item..which I had no idea about. I ended up grabbing 6 Elfin Elixirs and just have Veronica use Channel Anger + Magic Burst while the Luminary used the Elixirs and Serena healed everyone each turn. I had no idea until I saw a video on YouTube beating Calasmos in 2 turns. I knew for some reason the boss was way harder than the other games but I couldn't understand why. I also saw some people saying you needed the Supreme Sword of Light to defeat him (which apparently isn't true) and that's why I tried to use it as an item.

The end of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age looks like the end of any other game. In defeating Mordegon, the Luminary saves the world of Erdrea. The end credits roll, and that’s it, right?
Think again. The end of Dragon Quest XI is only the beginning. Anyone familiar with previous Dragon Quest games know better. This is a false ending, and there is so much more to the story after that. There are a host of new quests to take, as well as a completely different new main mission to conquer. This leads to the actual final boss and the game’s true ending.

How to Access The Post Game Content in Dragon Quest XI
After the credits roll, be sure to visit Arboria where the city is celebrating the memory of Veronica. Spend some time there talking to citizens, and once ready, try to leave. A scene will play where Erik suggests checking out something in the ruins south of Octagonia. Note that there are new objective markers on the world map: visit these, but remember to save the ruins for last.

Visit the ruins south of Octagonia. There, find the Wheel of Time. Use Zoom to reach Havens Above. From there, summon Cetacea and guide her to fly the party to the Lost Land, just north of Arboria. Follow the path to the tower and place the Wheel of Time on the door. Enter the tower.
Navigate the tower until the Luminary reaches the Timekeeper. Here, the Luminary learns that it is possible to turn back time and bring back Veronica, along with everyone else who died when Mordegon ruled Erdrea. The Luminary must make a decision: leave the timeline intact or go back in time: all the Luminary’s memories, weapons, armor and items will remain with him (except for the Sword of Light), but everyone else will revert to how they were previously.

When ready, follow the Timekeeper’s instructions to reset the timeline. The Luminary returns to the moment before Mordegon took over the world. Veronica is alive and well, but the party has reverted to its previous stats. Don’t worry, though; they will eventually get their levels back.
Discover the True Dragon Quest XI Boss
With knowledge of what will happen next, the Luminary can now proceed through the First Forest and to the world tree Yggdrasil. Mordegon and his lackeys attack, as he did previously, but the Luminary is now prepared. Defeat Mordegon and change the history of the world. It seems so easy, doesn’t it?

But just as everyone begins celebrating the victory over Mordegon, Erdwin’s Lantern starts to fall from the sky, threatening the world all over again. Remember what happened with it before? Mordegon destroyed it, but Mordegon is now not around to do that. So guess what? This is the Dark One of legend, the true boss that the Luminary must eventually face.
How To Prepare For The Final Dragon Quest XI Battle
Return to Havens Above and visit the Watchers. Look for those with the pink speech bubbles because they will instruct the Luminary on where to go and what to do. The first mission the Watchers will give to the Luminary is to find three Yggdrasil seedlings and touch them. The first seedling is outside Angri-La, and the other two are at the Zwaardrust and Laguna di Gondolia whale stations. Each seedling tells the story of the first Luminary, Erdwin, and his companions and what really happened on the fateful day that they fought the Dark One. The seedlings also reveal the true nature of Erdwin's Lantern.

Keep visiting the Watchers at Havens Above. They will continue to instruct the Luminary. Follow their instructions until Cetacea has what she needs to access Erdwin’s Lantern. But note that the Luminary will need to level up quite a bit before being prepared for that fight.

How to Beat Calasmos (True Final Boss) in Dragon Quest XI
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is the first proper Dragon Quest entry in nearly eight years, with the last one being Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies on Nintendo DS. In the spirit of traditional JRPGs, Dragon Quest XI casts you as the Luminary, a chosen hero destined to fight off the darkness and save the world of Erdrea. The entire experience almost feels like a homage to the Dragon Quest series in general, and if you’ve played any titles in the series before you’ll know to expect certain things. One of those things is that the game doesn’t end quite when you think it does, and there’s actually a true final boss to defeat. In this case, its name is Calasmos.
Reloading your save after beating Dragon Quest XI the first time will see the story carry on for quite a bit longer, until you can finally enter the dark star in the sky and fight Calasmos.
Before we jump into how to beat Calasmos’ battle, there are a few things to get out of the way. First off, you’ll want to make sure your entire party is around level 70 at least. It’s also recommended you complete at least the last four sidequests of Dragon Quest XI to give a boost to Rab’s magical power, Serena’s healing power, the Hero’s Luminary abilities, and Hendrik’s Blind Man’s Biff. Also, make sure the hero is wielding the Super Sword of Light, or at least has it in his inventory. There’s more you can do to prepare, of course, like forging a new Sword of Light, but this should prepare you enough at least.
Calasmos can be one of the toughest fights in Dragon Quest XI, and right off the bat you might find yourself getting demolished. That’s because there’s a bit of a trick with this fight, as the first thing you need to do is dispel the dark aura boosting Calasmos’ abilities. The very first thing you need to do is, on the hero’s turn, go to items and use the Super Sword of Light. This will dispel Calasmos’ aura and kick off the real battle, reducing the damage he causes and increasing the damage you cause. You can really go with any party setup for this fight, but you should definitely have Serena and the hero in your party.
Dragon Quest 11 Supreme Sword Of Light Materials
Keep Serena completely on healing duty the entire battle, you’ll need it. At the start, you should use or swap in Sylvando to use Accelerate and boost up your party’s speed. If you’ve boosted the hero’s Luminary abilities, you can use those this entire battle to hit all enemies for substantial damage, especially if he’s dual-wielding. Now, use a big damage dealer to help out, like Veronica, Jade, or Erik. Focus on taking out Calasmo’s claw first as it can inflict status effects, then after that, move onto the cannon. Don’t be afraid to swap characters out if they’re struggling to stay alive. You can also swap in Hendrik and use Kabuff and Magic Barrier to boost your defense. Periodically, Calasmos will summon little black ghosts to help him, in which case you should absolutely focus on taking them out quickly as they can restore health to the boss. There are also points where he’ll freeze time for everyone except one party member, in which case you should completely focus on keeping that party member alive. Time will reset in a couple turns.
Just keep battling, buffing, and healing and the boss will eventually go down. Congratulations, you’ve beaten Dragon Quest XI.
